Farmall Tractors Become International Harvestor

For 1955 models of International Harvester tractors, the numbered “hundred series” was introduced. Although the hundred series included some new paint and a few new tweaks, they were essentially just overhauled letter series tractors. In July of 1958, International Harvester hosted over 12,000 dealers from greater than 25 countries. International Harvester showed off their new line of “60″ series tractors, which included the big, first of their kind six-cylinder 460 and 560 model tractors. Although they seemed to have brought an innovative new line to the market, the excitement over the new line of tractors was short lived. In June of the next year, International Harvester was forced to recall the 460, 560, and 660 tractors because their final drive components had failed repeatedly in production models. This was the beginning of the end of a prosperous three decades for International Harvester.

Farmall Tractors F Series

The F-series tractors survived until 1938. In 1939, International Harvester introduced the “letter series” of tractors, which were designated A, B, BN, C, H, and M. Another smaller tractor, known as the Cub was also introduced. At the time of the introduction of the Letter series, International Harvester’s commissioned industrial designer gave the Farmall a new, updated look. The letter series offered a wide range of options and power. The H line was the most popular. The Letter series was updated to the “super” series in 1952, and received many improvements. The Letter series of Farmall tractors was produced until 1954, and was a defining product line in the history of International Harvester.

Farmall began as the name for the first line of tractors produced by International Harvester that was unique for its narrowly spaced front wheels. International Harvester went on to name their entire line of tractors after the Farmall, and it became a household name in the tractor manufacturing sector. Farmall is known by almost all the older generation of farmers who grew up around the time that tractors replaced horses as the primary work horse in the agriculture industry.

1928 Farmall tractor first time out in 5 years

We pulled out the old Farmall after sitting 5 years in a barn. Cleaned out the fuel bowl and blew out the fuel lines. Then we added some fresh gas. We pulled it off to start it up. It fired twice and this is our third try, and boy did she go, and perform a sweet little row crop turn and came back smooth as can be. We could tell the old gal was happy to be out and about. Notice the right hand brake handle. Not all these old tractors had that.

How do I find good used hydraulic control valves for John Deere L&G tractors?

I am looking for a good used hydraulic control valve for a Model 318 lawn and garden tractor any body have any info?

Do you have a part number? Ebay is a good place to start. If you have a P/N though you might be able to rebuild it. I work for a company that builds hydraulic equipment. JD makes most of their own valves for larger equipment but I believe they buy some of the smaller non specific ones. Seal kits and parts are usually available. and unless you get the valve cheap would be the way to go. Most are not difficult.
Edit: Robin, he is asking about a control valve, not fittings. Rebuilt valves are used all of the time. That is a big Business ,

Where can I find used tractor inner tubes for a float trip (hopefully in kansas)?

My friends and I are trying to arrange a float trip down a river. The thing is we were hoping to find some gigantic inner tubes that weren’t just the crappy plastic ones Walmart sells. We were hoping someone knew of a farm co. that maybe would have some used tractor inner tubes and would be willing to sell them to us for a decent price… If anyone has any information on something like this- it would be amazingly helpful. Thanks!

Look in your local yellow-pages for a truck-tire shop !!

Just an aside… we own 3 tractors here on the ranch… all are tube-less tires !!

My dad called me and wants me to move it. I have no idea how to glow it because its been sitting there all winter. Any help appreciated.

charge battery spray a shot or two of starting fluid should crank if it has a glow plug most work by turning on switch a few seconds should see a light but if not just turn it on wait a few seconds then spray it and crank it

how do I determine a used tractors worth?

Its a mid 70’s international catipiller td 7 with a 6 way blade & hydrlic jack & yes it runs. was recieved in lieu of a loan repayment (it was accept that or possibly get nothing…) of $7,500.00 One person has guessed at a worth of $7,000.00 but another guy said about $5,500.00 It does run fine & has a (used) spare set of tracts–I want to sell fast & try to recoup some of my $$ but I dont have a clue–help!!
