Does anybody know of any trucking companies besides usxpress that uses automatic semi tractors?

Posted by admin in used tractors on March 14th, 2009

I only have 3mths experience but I'm willing to do a 2wk training, etc. I tried Hogan, Interstate Distribution, Averitt, and Arnold. I really don't like manual transmissions semi trucks. If anybody know of any companies besides these, it would be a great help.

No offense here but if you can't handle an 18 spd you shouldn't be driving a truck, try a school bus instead. Automatics have their place but manuals are still the transmission of choice for most driving purposes, they are much safer as well and give greater fuel economy.

What hardner to use with alkyd/oil enamel?

Posted by admin in used farm tractors on March 14th, 2009

Hey Guys,
I plan to paint my farm tractor in the spring with alkyd/oil paint because it's much cheaper and would like to use hardner, then later to use clear. Will be using HVLP turbine system (cheap model) for this work. What hardner would be best and which clear to use?
Thanks for your help. George

Go to your local auto paint supplier or call and ask. They will not only tell your the right kind, but the correct amount to use.

Is buying a farm tax deductible?

Posted by admin in farm tractors on March 14th, 2009

I know we can claim our tractor for farm expense, but can we claim our 46.5 acre farm we bought, we have since built a new house on it as well.

No. You can't claim the tractor either. You can only claim depreciation on the tractor or a Section 179 deduction. Your investment in the farm is an asset. You can deduct expenses of operating the farm from the revenue you earn from farming. But the cost of the farm is not deductible. Land does not depreciate.
