looking for site that can tell me a site that can tell me how much a used tractor is worth?

Posted by admin in used tractors on March 10th, 2009

what is the value of a 1992 model 261 massey ferguson tractor is worth.

keep googling
I tried the ebay site
no massey ferguson tractors for sale right now
it seems unless tractors are pristine vintage (pre mid 60's) or John Deere they are not selling for very much on eBay
I did find a site that has one for sale
it listed for $5800

I want to know everything about farming, about tractors and how the attachments work what makes a good harvest?

can anyone tell me what the difference between a 3 pt hitch and a pto and witch is better? how do you tell what attachment is best for your tractor? what is a good tractor for what you have. What machine and attachments you need to get the seed in the ground to the time of harvest. just tell me everything you know about farming
whats a tiller, harrows, box scrapers, cutipackers, rotary cutters and sweepers, disc mower and finishing mower, cultivators, what are they and how are they used.

I have been farming for 5 years and there's more to it than what I can type here, or explain to you without showing you what I'm talking about. I'm not gonna go into any detail on anything because it's too much. Feel free to email me any specific questions you have and I'll be glad to answer them.

To answer your question 3pt hitch and PTO are two totally different things. The 3pt hitch is a way to attach an implement and PTO is a means of driving external parts on whatever your pulling.

The 3pt is self-explanatory uses three points of attachment. The two lower points for lifting the attachment, and the upper point for tilting forward or backward to keep your implement level once it goes in the ground.

The PTO is mainly used for powering the unload auger on a grain cart or hydrolic pump on a module builder.

There are a couple of ways to plant. You can use a vacuum planter, or seed drill. Vacuum planters use plastic disks about 12'' in diameter with holes around the outside edge that are the size of the seed your planting. There's a specific disk for whatever your planting. The plates are inside a vacuum sealed area and as the seed falls into this area the vacuum causes the seed to be pulled into the holes and as the disk rotates it drops the seed down a shoot and into the ground. Vacuum planters are used for specific spacing for 38'' down to 15'' rows. A grain drill plants small seeds close together, both in the row and between the rows. This is to increase the yield per acre (more plants) and to have the crop plants assist in weed control with their own vegetation cover.

how do I identify my farmall 140 tractor or find out what year it was made?

Head over to this website: http://www.tractorshed.com/cgi-bin/gallery/ident_view.cgi

There's a lot of tractor folks there, and they can help you identify it. (1960 – 1963 appear to be popular.)

Good luck.
