Two tractors are used to drag a large boulder across a field. The larger tractor exerts a force of 3200 N toward [120º].The smaller tractor pulls with a force of 2500 N toward [65º]

[a] Determine the resultant force on the boulder

[b] Determine the equilibrant force

Two tractors are used to drag a large boulder across a field. The larger tractor exerts a force of 3200 N toward [120º].The smaller tractor pulls with a force of 2500 N toward [65º]

[a] Determine the resultant force on the boulder

large: (3200*cos(120),3200*sin(120) = (-1600,2771)
small: (2500*cos(65), 2500*sin(65)) = (1057,2266)
resultant: (-1600,2771) + (1057,2266) = (-1600+1057,2771+2266) = (-543,5037)
arctan(5037/-543) = -84 degrees (wrong quadrant!)
correction: -84 + 180 = 96 degrees
magnitude = sqrt(-543^2 + 5037^2) = 5066 [N]

Answer: 5066 [N] towards 96 [degrees]

Good luck.

The farm use will consist of tilling, fertilizing, and harvesting of produce to be sold.

Yes, sales tax is charged.

Have you had any problems with the Kubota or John Deere compact farm tractors?

John Deere have been around, as the gentleman above says for years, if you spread a little love and attention on them, they will reward you with many years of hard work, however the Kubota thats another matter, if your sitting comfy I shall begin. We bought one for the sports club I was head groundsman at, the comittee bought it as it was cheap, yea right cheap, but when it went wrong it cost the earth, was very hard to start on cold mornings, very prone to fuel flooding and if you had to get a replacement part, they were not in stock and when you did get the part, it cost with the fitting a kings ransom, we sold it part exchange for the John Deere, the rep him self delivering it a very nice man, when they sold up before the property developers moved in the John Deere was sold to an old mate of mine and he still uses it, that was over twelve years ago, "Jonny" must be nearly twenty years old now.

Your best bet is to hit up some forums and ask around to people who have this hobby or restore antique farm machinery. I would take a look at:

http://www.ytmag.com/community/

I bet you can find endless information there if you ask questions in the forum. A forum is a bit better for this kind of thing as you can interact more easily than a simple Question Answer style like they have here.
